Guidance, training and support

The Roles and Responsibilities document has been designed to assist you in fulfilling your duties. It explains what information should be provided to us and details expected turnaround times for submission. You should take the time to go through this in detail and make any amendments to ensure your procedures can meet the requirements.

The Pensions Administration Strategy (PAS), prepared under regulation 59 (LGPS 2013), sets out procedures for liaison and communication between us. It also specifies how your performance will be monitored and any action that will be taken if targets are not met. It includes a list of charges that may be issued if you fail to meet the expected standard.

There is also a range of other material available to assist you which can be found on our Employer Guides, Forms, and Booklets webpage. Here you will find all forms you may be required to complete as well as guides on topics such as, outsourcing your payroll and the IDRP (Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure).

You have a dedicated Employer Liaison Officer (ELO) who is able to answer your questions and assist with any complex queries you may have. You can also arrange one to one training with your ELO at a time that is mutually convenient.

We run regular topical training webinars open to all Fund employers, which you can find details of on our Employer Events and Training webpage.

We also include a bitesize training feature in each issue of our quarterly employer newsletter, In-Form. Previous copies are available on our website for you to access.

You can access the LGPS regulations on the national website at: www.lgpsregs.org The employer’s section of the website has a range of training material including e-courses on APP (Assumed Pensionable Pay), ill-health retirement and final pay, as well as guides such as the HR & Payroll guide, and many other documents available for you to use.

Information about your duties under auto-enrolment can be found on The Pensions Regulator’s website.
